Video footage of a care worker assaulting two residents in bungalow three in Áras Attracta in Swinford, Co Mayo was shown at Castlebar District Court.
Joan Gill, 63, of Dublin Road, Swinford, has pleaded guilty to three charges of assaulting the residents in November 2014.
Five clips of footage recorded by the RTÉ Investigations Unit in the front sitting-room of the bungalow were shown to Judge Mary Devins.

From the ‘Irish Independent’: “A clinical nurse manager caught on camera sitting on a severely autistic woman has been sentenced to four months prison after he was convicted of assault at Ballina District Court this morning. Pat McLoughlin (56) Lalibela, Mayfield,Claremorris, Co Mayo had described his actions as “playful interaction” and “a bit of fun”. However, Judge Mary Devins today found him and three colleagues guilty of assault. A fifth member of staff who had pleaded guilty to three counts of assault was also sentenced.”
